'Art by the River' an exhibition of paintings, pottery and jewellery is on again in 2019 and the Boatshed at Woronora will be hosting this yearly event featuring original works by palette knife artist Jim flood, potter Janet Flood and jewellery by Joy Flood and assists in raising funds for Hospital by the River (Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia (Aust) Ltd.



Entry is free and while you are there, you can purchase any piece that you may like.


The Exhibition opens on Saturday 4 May and continues to Sunday 19 May 2019. All are welcome to join the artists for complimentary Devonshire Tea at 2pm on Saturday 4th of May.

The Boatshed is open every day from 8.30am to 5.00pm and is situated on Forbes Creek, 131 Prince Edward Park Road, Woronora NSW (opposite Woronora RSL Club). Forbes Creek leads onto the picturesque Woronora River.

The Waterfront Café offers a wide range of delightful food, smooth coffee, a relaxing view and affordable canoe and kayak hire. With the café looking directly onto the water, you will experience the beauty and calmness of the river.

Jim was born in Sydney in 1941. He served an Apprenticeship as a Letterpress and Flexographic Printer and using this technical background moved into sales in the Printing Industry.



Over the years, Jim has studied the landscape with its many hues and colours and has developed his own distinctive painting style. Jim's impressionistic, modern, traditional paintings encapsulate the colours of Australia and reflect his great love of the land, sea and waterways.



Janet commenced an evening pottery class at Gymea TAFE when her family were young. On completion, the course gave her the knowledge and confidence to pursue her hobby and she subsequently purchased a gas kiln giving her the opportunity to fire her own wares in a reduced atmosphere. Janet is a self-sufficient potter and formulates her own glazes. She is a member of Port Hacking Potters Group.







Joy was born in the Philippines and settled in Australia with her family many years ago. Joy met Todd (Jim and Janet's youngest son) while they were both working on Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef and they have been married for a number of years. She decided to try her hand at making jewellery, fitting it in when she can with a young family. Her delightful, colourful, creative designs are proving to be very popular with the little ones and their mums.





Jim will be demonstrating the art of the palette knife on weekdays.

The Waterfront Café is open 7 days a week 8.30am to 5.00pm; home baked food is their speciality.

Leanne and I have been down to 'Art by the River' at the Boatshed at Woronora a number of times and we have brought a number of pieces that adorn our house. Hope to see you down there.
