Hunter's Premier Artisan and Design Marketplace
The Hunter Arts Network, better known as HAN, is a membership of artists, designers, jewellers and craft people from the Hunter region. Hunter Arts Network strives to promote professionalism and maintain the high standard of art works on offer at Art Bazaar and encourage emerging artists to take the opportunity to present their talent. The third annual Art Bazaar at Maitland will return to the grounds of Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
The Gallery located in the federation Gothic building, is a series of exhibition spaces, workshop spaces and retail spaces all dedicated to providing premier arts and cultural experiences for the general public.
In its second decade and held three times a year, Art Bazaar has developed into a major art event for the region which now attracts many visitors from out of the town, and is the Hunter's premier artisan and design marketplace.
Art Bazaar is a great way to show families and visitors how wonderfully creative our community is. HAN showcases original handcrafted goods from over 100 local HAN artists. Art Bazaar has free entry and there are demonstrations, entertainment, a mobile ATM, food, and MRAG's Cafe Seraphine which is open for breakfast and lunch from 7:30am – 4:30pm.
Children of all ages and their families are welcome for free art activities at MRAG every Sunday from 11.00am - 1.00pm. Bookings not required, all materials are supplied.
MRAG will be showing exhibitions coinciding with Art Bazaar: Judy Henry: Reflections of life and landscape and Greta Migrant Camp: Displaced - Assimilation and Stereoscopic Views: Vivienne Dadour and Gail Burrows
