Art and About Sydney turns 10 this year and is set to go all out to celebrate, and we're all invited to join the party. Kicking off with a bang last Friday night with a free birthday bash in Martin Place featuring the sounds of Paul Mac and others, the party will continue through to 23 October with many a good time to be had



A must see at the 10th anniversary of Sydney's Art & About has to be the Sydney Life exhibition which is held in the beautiful Hyde Park. This year it will feature the work of 22 finalists showcasing what Sydney means to them. Taking a stroll along the central walkway in Hyde Park you will see their work on a larger than life scale. From flying pigs to a late night snack between friends, this exhibition will take you from the seemingly mundane to the bizarre and will open your eyes to the many sides of Sydney.





An event to mark in your calendar is definitely the Contested Landscapes: Art Meets Science exhibition at Customs House, on until 3 October. This thought-provoking exhibition features the work of artists seeking to navigate the complex interactions between land, water, transport and development representing the contested landscapes of our local communities.



The little ones are certainly not forgotten at Art & About and the kids will definitely love Kinder Art being held at the Surry Hills Library on Tuesday 4 October. A free event, the little munchkins have the chance to get in touch with their creative side and let their imaginations run wild as they create their own work of art that will surely be treasured forever.



To remind us that all that even in the hustle and bustle of Sydney life we should still cherish those little acts of kindness and generosity that come our way, Michael Landy brings us Acts of Kindness . Head down to Martin Place to take in Landy's 13 metre installation documenting tales of kindness and generosity from across the CBD. If you need any reassurance that kindness is still alive and well in the big smoke then this is an event not to miss.
