Art & About , an annual outdoor art fiesta of all things grand and artistic. Speaking of which, the theme for 2013's event is "Private Lives...Public Places." Art & About Sydney will display different, aesthetically pleasing art all throughout the CBD from the 20th of September to the 20th of October 2013.

Highlights of this event include, and are not limited to the following activities and exhibitions:

Friday Night Live - Martin Place

For starters, Martin Place takes to the spotlight on the opening night - Friday the 20th of September 2013. Friday Night Live composes of cocktails, art and films. Film screenings include The Arrival by Shaun Tan, an Academy Award winner. After this screening, Sydney rock group The Break will be performing key hits from their debut album, Space Farm. If you know and resonate to the likes of music groups such as Hunters and Collectors, The Violent Femmes, and Midnight Oil, you will want to be out and about for opening night.

City of Shadows - Justice and Police Museum

Photographic genius reigns when Sydney's underworld period of the 1900's is exposed. Held at the Justice and Police Museum. If you wish to view this exhibition prior to Art & About, you can do so, and this exhibit will be held until the end of 2013. Open from 10am to 5pm on weekends only.

Sydney Moderns: Art for a New World - Art Gallery of New South Wales

Also explores Sydney's population in the 1920's and 1930's era. Sydney was transformed, in addition to the creation of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and artists started to experiment with colour and different forms of art. This exhibition is held to celebrate this annual art event. Learn more about your city.

The Shared City - Place Partners

The Pitch-Athis opens on the 17th of September as part of the Art & About festival. For $15 a pop, attendees receive a drink, a $10 donation to the project, and a chance to voice their opinions on making Sydney a better and more creative city. Held at the Oxford Arts factory from 6:30pm. This festival (as part of Art & About - the preview) follows with a talk on our ideal city at Darling Harbour the day after, commencing at 6:30pm. Entry is free.

Field - Hyde Park

Held throughout the entire Art & About event, Field is a compilation of over 324 different mirror faces. A celebration of how art intertwines with nature, and a chance for those quiet, reflective moments in a busy city. Created by Out of the Dark. There will be many pleasant mirrors staring back at you, by day and by night.

Arena Calcetto Sydney - Paddington

If you love foosball, and you love outdoor games, then this inner eastern haven has created the 'fussball', comprising of six different sculptures housing these 'fussball' tables, and you're more than welcome to play. This is a free Art & About event, held at the Paddington Reservoir Gardens, 251-255 Oxford Street Paddington, from the 20th of September to the end of October.

Project 5, Volume 5 - Darling Harbour

Project 5 are back for their fifth Art & About appearance. This is where the art studio meets the streetscape, and see some live art in front of your very eyes. Launches at Darling Quarter from 6pm to 9pm on Friday the 27th of September, and continues over that same weekend from midday to 3pm. Live DJ's will also entertain.

Music, sculptures, art and film all intertwine and entertain Sydney to bring in Spring once more. Further information, and information on other Art & About programs, can be found on the Art & About website. Some activities are free, while others attract ticket prices. Enjoy.
