  • Authentic Mexican food is delicious, fresh and exciting. It is also bright, spicy and uses an amazing amount of chillies, either fresh or dried, smoked or pickled.

Mexican cooking is packed with flavour, among the herbs and spices that give it its distinct kick are a great amount of chillies as well as oregano, coriander, cinnamon and cocoa. They also use a lot of garlic, onions, lemons and limes as well as a Mexican panela cheese, that is a smooth, white cheese.

Among the staples of Mexican food are beans and corn. Corn is used to make masa, and this is a dough that is then turned into tortillas and tamales. Also, beans and corn feature prominently in many of these dishes.

    [b]DEAD OF THE DEAD**
Day of the Dead or as it is in Mexican, Dia de los Muertos, is the main concept of the festival.

So get ready for a weekend full of masks, fun, face painting and a lot of intriguing costumes. Day of the Dead costumes are recommended for this day, however, they are not mandatory.

Mexico's most famous festival, The Day of the Dead is not about death, but life. Hay más tiempo que vida, goes a Mexican saying 'There is more time than life.'

Day of the Dead is a time when people remember and honour their loved ones who have already deceased, with the idea that the spirits return on this one day of the year. These spirits will be together with their families, and festivities take place in cities and villages throughout Mexico and the world, honouring the dead.

On this day, the graves are decorated with flowers and an altar, with food and drink put out to encourage the souls of the dead people to join in the fun. Those living families also gather for a reunion and attempt to make the event a proper party.

Throughout this interesting event, you will see the following:

  • Cuisine: Over 25 Mexican and Latino-American vendors providing a wide range of street foods.

  • Margarita garden: This will be a fully licensed area with DJs and a bar. It will be serving over 5 different styles of Margaritas and other alcoholic drinks.

  • Handcrafts: There will be local manufacturers and importers displaying a selection of Mexican and Latin American handcrafted products.
