Gungahlin Lakes Club is located in the suburb of Nicholls, Australian Capital Territory 2601/Gungahlin Lakes Golf %26 Community Club, 110 Gundaroo Dr, Nicholls ACT 2913/@-35.2328573,149.078093,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x6b164d69b05c9021:0x500ea6ea7695660!2m2!1d149.1300092!2d-35.2809368!1m5!1m1!1s0x6b1654a67dd484e5:0xf00ea6f8b571070!2m2!1d149.1169706!2d-35.1862318 15 minutes north of Canberra city. It is a popular club in the local community, with friendly staff, a relaxed ambience and scenic views out onto the greens of Gungahlin Lakes Golf Course. Inside the spacious club there are three dining areas to choose from for a coffee, cake, lunch, or dinner - depending on your appetite. If you would like a substantial meal with a view, there is the large bistro The Lakes , which has a range of lunch or dinner options at restaurant prices. Alternatively, if you would prefer something lighter, you can order from the The Lakes Cafe which has a delicious range of cakes, coffees, sandwiches and light meals to enjoy while catching up with friends, or after a game of golf. Lastly if you're looking for something particularly yum, there is Aroma Pizza & Burgers - which is a popular family favourite for lunch, dinner and anytime in between.

Anytime is burger time!

The counter for Aroma Pizza & Burgers is located in a tucked away position within the club, with a dozen tables, a small outside dining area and a colourful children's room, making it a popular spot for families with young children to sit. For toddlers, there are activities on the wall to touch and pull, as well as several foam cushions on the floor to stack and jump over, with a soft landing underneath. There is also a large TV showing Disney favourites, so kids can relax and watch a movie while waiting for lunch or dinner. Next door is also a games room with computer games for older children, so all ages are catered for in this small, family corner of the club.

If you don't wish to sit in this area, patrons are more than welcome to order at the Aroma counter and then take their buzzer and sit wherever they like in the club. Our family enjoys sitting next to the large floor-to-ceiling windows which overlook the golf course, to watch the ducks waddle over the greens and the fish poke their heads up out of the lake for air. Although the games room is fun for kids, there is also plenty of things to see out of these large windows, with a constant parade of colourful golfers and remote-control motorised buggies. On our latest visit, many kids were looking out the window trying to spot their Daddies!

If you love burgers, there are 6 tasty options to choose from on the menu which include beef, chicken, vegetarian, steak or BLT. On a recent lunch-time visit, we ordered the Grilled Birdie for $17 and Lakes' Loaded Beef Burger for $18 (member prices), which were both huge, jam-packed full of flavour and with moist, tender meat inside. If you love burgers, you won't be disappointed with either of these on offer and the crunchy chips will also ensure you leave the club loosening your belt buckle - they are too good to leave!

If you prefer pizza, there are 9 different options including Tandoori Chicken, Deluxe Veggie, Pulled Pork Supreme, Fiery Chicken and Chilli Prawn. If you have kids who like something plainer, you can't go past the popular Hawaiian or Margherita. Our family went to Aroma two weekends in a row, as we enjoyed our burger experience so much that we then back to try out the pizza! We ordered a Hawaiian to share with our young daughter and we were more than happy with the large size of the pizza, which we easily shared between 3 people. One thing we all mentioned was how relaxing it was, to be sitting by the large windows with a pizza in hand, on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Just like any club, you need to be a member or a guest to enter the Gungahlin Lakes Club.
Membership costs only $5 per year and it provides you with membership prices on the menu and other bonuses throughout the year. Although Canberra has many clubs around the region, some are larger and have more amenities than others. Gungahlin Lakes is one of the biggest, with a variety of dining options, plenty of space to spread out and relaxing and scenic views that can't be compared to any other club. If you love burgers and pizza - and who doesn't? - then you are sure to find something to entice you at Aroma this weekend.

Believe me - the aromas coming from Aroma will get your stomach rumbling!
