Get Your Comic-On
If you think the Melbourne Showgrounds is pretty much a ghost town after the Royal Show, think again. The Showgrounds hosts a variety of events year round and the Armageddon Expo is no different...

Except that it is. Celebrating everything quirky-cool in pop culture, the Armageddon expo attracts different types of people from all over the world who come to celebrate their favourite iconic genres like Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comics and Anime.

A fly on the wall shot of last year's Expo

It's hard to not get excited about this event; with 3 non-stop event stages featuring contests, celebrity panels, photo zones for Cosplay, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, amusement rides and even replica cars from Back To The Future & the 1960's Batmobile. With so many activities, shows and celebrity appearances it's hard to fit into just one article, so I'll let their advert do some of it for me:

But that's not all. Writers and artists of comics, games and TV shows Astro City, The Simpsons, Superior Spider-Man, Earth 2, Injustice will be there for free signings and sketches alongside special guest; co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kevin Eastman.

For the Anime & Cartoon categories, attendees will get the chance to meet the voices behind The Avengers, Batman, Avatar, Transformers, Garfield and Kung Fu Panda. Patrick Seitz the Anime & gaming actor, writer and director, whose project credits in the hundreds include Mortal Kombat, World of Warcraft, Blade, Kurokami and Fate/Zero will be among them.

Other guest appearances for the 2 day convention (mostly in the TV, Movie & Web Comic industries) will be made up of:

Matt Melvin, co-creator of Cyanide & Happiness.
A Cyanide & Happiness Comic

Dwight Schultz (The A-Team)

* Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings)

David Morrissey (The Walking Dead)

Rick Worthy (Battlestar Galactica & Supernatural)

Corey Feldman (The Goonies, The Lost Boys & Gremlins)

Ty Olsson (Dragon Tales & Supernatural)

Norman Lovett (Red Dwarf & Evil Aliens)
Jason Carter (Babylon 5)

Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show)

Claudia Black (Stargate SG-1)

Emma Lynch (Luna Lovegood - Harry Potter)

As well as more stars from Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Once Upon A Time, Farscape Reunion, & Quantum Leap. Fees do apply for photos and autographs by these stars, organised through the Expo's online token system which reduces wait times and excessive queuing.
