The City of Armadale is always keen to promote creative writing and young talented writers, and the Armadale Young Writers' Awards 2014 does just that. This annual competition is designed especially for children. It will be running from Sunday 1st June to Monday 30th June, 2014, and winners will be announced in early September, 2014.

Category 1 - General Creative Writing.
Write about anything that captures your imagination.
Category 2 - Living in Armadale.
Write about where you live, special places in and around Armadale, or things and events that you like about the Armadale area.
Entries must be prose pieces only, no poetry, scripts, novels or illustrations. Each entry must be limited to two thousand words or less, and be the child's own, original work.
The Place-Getters of this competition will receive fantastic cash prizes, trophies or certificates:
1st Prize - $200.00 2nd Prize - $150.00
3rd Prize - $100.00 Living in Armadale - $200.00 Best Overall - $50.00 Book Voucher

To help young writers prepare for the Young Writers Awards, the City of Armadale will be holding a series of four Writing Workshops at the Armadale Library. These free workshops will give up-and-coming writers an insight into the world of writing, plus special guests will be able to pass on a few writing tips and tricks.
