The Armadale Library has some interesting and informative events and activities for all ages for this January 2019. Their address is inside the Armadale Shopping Centre, Shop #64 Armadale Central Shopping Centre, 10 Orchard Avenue, Armadale.

[b]SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM - LEGO AT THE LIBRARY[/b]
Friday 11th January 2019, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm

Can your child build a curious creature and its home from Lego? This is suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years.

[b]UNTANGLING TRAVEL AT ANY AGE[/b]
Wednesday 16th January 2019, from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm

Having travelled from Everest Base Camp in celebration of her 60th birthday, Pam Lynch is a firm believer in the benefits that can be gained through travel no matter what your age.

Pam has travelled extensively from Hadrian's Wall to the Bungle Bungles and is very eager to share her experiences and answer any questions you may have. Perhaps this will encourage you to make that effort, spread your wings and become more than an armchair traveller!

[b]ACOUSTIC GUITAR WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS[/b]
Saturday 19th January 2019, from 10.00 am to 11.30 am

Bring along your acoustic guitar and enjoy a free workshop with experienced local teacher Kim Bettenay. This workshop is for beginners and is suitable for ages 10 to 100 years.

Children under 12 years must have an adult accompany them at this session (only book in the name of the guitarist).

[b]COMMON MISTAKES PHOTOGRAPHERS MAKE[/b]
Tuesday 22nd January 2019, from 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm

DSLR cameras can be complicated to use, so let photographer Mick Dixon simplify this for you. Mick will take you through the functions of DSLR cameras and then concentrate on the most common mistakes people make and how to fix them using the camera.

Bring your DSLR camera, as well as any problem photos and a pen and paper to take notes.

Monday 14th January 2019, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm

Do you know how the quokkas came to be at Rottnest? Storyteller Glenn Swift will amaze us with weird stories of curious creatures. This is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years.

Monday 21st January 2019, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm.

Children can make their own curious creature using several different craft materials. This is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years of age.

[b]SCHOOL PROGRAM - WILL-O-THE-WISP LANTERNS[/b]
Tuesday 22nd January 2019, from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm

The Pirateman will teach you about faerie legends and then you will go on and make a lantern using upcycled glass jars, stickers and pipe cleaners. To conclude this interesting lesson, you will be able to look for treasures left behind by the Will-O-The-Wisps. This is suitable for 6 to 12 years old.

[b]TEEN SCENE - HARRY POTTER CRAFT[/b]
Wednesday 23rd January 2019, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm

There will be a Harry Potter book night in February and your help is needed to prepare for this. You will make some craft items to decorate the library including wands, witches hats, Platform 9 3/4 wallpaper and candle lights. These items will possibly be used in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

[b]SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM - EGG CARTON CREATURES[/b]
Thursday 24th January 2019, from 10.30 am to 11.30 am

Here you can make a weird creature from an egg carton. Perhaps you can make a dragon, an animal, a bug or a new creature of your own design. This is suitable for primary school aged children.

Parents or carers must stay in the museum during this session.

[b]SHARED READING[/b]
Wednesday 30th January 2019, from 9.30 am to 11.30 am

This is a two-part workshop with Speech Pathologist Di van der Walt. Di will demonstrate how parents can have quality interactions with their child using books as the main focus.

This workshop is for parents with children 3 to 6 years of age. This session is a part of the Better Beginnings Parent Workshop series.

[b]RHYME TIME AT HARRISDALE SHOPPING CENTRE[/b]
Friday 4th, Friday 18th January and Friday 1st February 2019
Bookings are not required and the address is Nicholson Road and Yellowwood Drive, Harrisdale.

The City of Armadale Libraries will host some fun sessions for babies and pre-schoolers at Stockland Harrisdale Shopping Centre. You will join in with stories, songs and craft.
