Argy Bargy

Home > Melbourne > Bars
Published May 17th 2012
Tucked in between numbers 261 and 265 is Argy Bargy at 263 Carlisle St, St Kilda. Haven't heard of it? Argy Bargy is hidden gem of a bar, with decently priced drinks and excellent food. But wait, there's more...

Argy Bargy has a psychedelic collage of famous cartoon characters on the walls. I remember being five and watching Captain Planet, My Little Pony, Gremlins, Mr T and more. Stepping into this bar feels like stepping back into childhood - especially after a few pots of beer!

Throw in some live music on the weekends, ambient lighting and comfy booths, chairs and couches and there's a great atmosphere. (For anyone interested, the booths can be booked for groups.)

Argy Bargy also has another secret. It provides cheap and yummy food! There's the basic salads and chips available, but the best food is the pizzas. These range from pretty normal type pizzas through to the delicious dessert pizzas. Whoever invented mixing ice cream and pizza deserves a medal...

The staff have always been fun and friendly when I visit Argy Bargy, and the service good. The vibe is relaxed with a bit of fun thrown in. I assume that's why on the weekend the place is packed to the rafters!

Argy Bargy provides a perfect setting to meet up with some mates and have a few drinks. It's also a great starting point before hitting the clubs.

Just don't start talking to the cartoons like I saw one drunk guy doing. Maybe taking appreciation a tad too far...
