If you're after a spot in Strathalbyn to get some delicious food, then head no further than . The historical building was originally the printing press for South Australia's first regional news paper Grab something to eat, and then head through to the shop to peruse through the home made wares.



When the sun is shining on Strathalbyn enjoy sitting outside Argus House for some spectacular view. The patisserie and shot looks out at the Soldiers Memorial Gardens , the picturesque sprawling gardens that surround the winding Angas river. Cosy indoor seating creates a friendly and homely environment that perfectly represents Strathalbyn.

Argus House serves a range of fresh cakes, tarts, slices, home made pies, pancakes and crepes. Complement your food with a hot chocolate or coffee. Eat in at Argus House, or take away some of their delicious goods. Everything is fresh and very flavourful.

Argus House are best known for their gourmet pies, winning the 2010 'Great Pie Off' in Adelaide Hills Magazine . Try a fresh baked pie in one of these delicious flavours: lamb rogan josh, chunky steak and mushroom, or lentil and sweet potato among many others.



The connecting shop will be any child's dream. Children's toys galore line the shelves along with books and games. As well as stuff to keep your children occupied the Argus House shop has a range of handmade items. These include some delicious smelling soaps and hand crafted clothing and accessories.





Argus House is a lovely place to grab a bite to eat in a gorgeous historial building. Head down there next time you're in the area, and treat yourself to some of their delicious food. While you're there check out some of Strathalbyn's history and view photographs as old as the 1800s.

The Café is open from 8am till 5pm and the shop is open from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week.
