A little bit of Greece in Port Adelaide
Located in the heart of Port Adelaide, Argo Hellenic Cafe Restaurant serves up authentic Greek food that you'd want to come back for again and again. Last week was our first time dining there and we were not disappointed. It was nice to be able to enjoy a little bit of Greece without having to actually leave the country. Plus, as a bonus, Entertainment members get 25% off the total bill whether dine-in or takeaway.
With a menu featuring traditional meat dishes and seafood, we decided to order a souvlaki and a moussaka for our quick lunch after cruising the Port River. But, if you prefer, they also have a five-course banquet for $44 per head. A children's menu is available too.
All their souvlakia are served with tzatziki, chips and salad, and they come in two sizes - either entree or main. Our entree serve of the chicken souvlaki was well-marinated, tender and flavourful. The grilled meat pieces were of a good size.
Our moussaka had luscious layers of sweet eggplant and juicy mince topped with thick and creamy bechamel sauce. It was baked to golden perfection, and we really loved it. Unlike lasagna, the moussaka is lower in carbohydrates due to the omission of pasta sheets.
If you enjoy Greek food, then Argo Hellenic Cafe Restaurant is definitely worth a try. It is located at 45 Commercial Road. Do check it out next time you're in Port Adelaide.
