Ardrossan is a small town on the Yorke Peninsula, approximately 150kms from Adelaide. As it is only about 90 minutes drive from Adelaide, this seaside town is a very popular destination for people wanting a seaside holiday or just a weekend getaway. It is also a great place for swimming, fishing and crabbing.
The cliffs at sunrise
But what impresses me most about this town is the beautiful cliffs along its coast. England has 'the white cliffs of Dover' and here we have 'the red cliffs of Ardrossan.' The cliffs are a dull red colour when you see it during the day. However, in the early morning, when the rising sun shines on it, the cliffs become a beautiful shining orange in colour. The jetty is also the perfect place to capture the beautiful sunrise.
We were surprised to see quite a number people at the jetty in the dark before dawn, waiting for the sun to come up and to snap that beautiful photo or two, just as we did.
Sunrise at the jetty
The next time you visit Ardrossan, make the effort to rise before dawn and get down to the beach. You will not be disappointed.
