Archery

While researching Whitewater Rafting for yesterdays issue I came across a whole gaggle of great activities which are related to old Olympic venues.

One which is definitely on my todo list is archery at the Sydney Archery Centre.

Unfortunately they don't let you shoot apples off your friend's head, probably because this would happen, although I'm sure this guy could pull it off.

The Archery Centre caters to all levels of experience, and they have a 90 minute Come 'N' Try course for complete novices. At $20 for training and equipment it's a good deal.

You can book by calling (02) 9748 7313, and the centre is located at the Sydney Olympic Park.

I spent a morning doing archery for a friend's birthday last year. It was a pretty enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. There's a quick briefing on how to fire an arrow and all things safety, and then you're let loose to go nuts. If you're bored one weekend, give it a try.
