A rail lover’s delight
Visit Archer Park Rail Museum Rockhampton and step back in time to an era when steam trains reigned. Located on Denison Street, between Archer and Cambridge Streets. This museum was previously known as Archer Park Station and Steam Tram Museum.

Archer Park Rail Museum contains many exhibitions associated with railways and the Rockhampton Council Tramways dating back to 1899. You can enjoy the nostalgia, and discover the story of how rail-based transportation transformed the region into a major central Queensland powerhouse. Satisfy your curiosity as you browse the exhibits and rail memorabilia that have been collected from a variety of sources including private collectors, former rail workers, the "Friends of Archer Park", and Queensland Rail. You can browse through photographs, and see a C17 Steam Engine, Diesel Engine 1614, and heritage rail carriages from 1903 and 1921.

Travel back in time and take a ride on a real loco-motor of the fully restored French Purrey Steam Tram, considered to be the only operational one of its kind in the world. This rare Purrey steam tram was reconstructed using parts from the original fleet of steam trams operated by Rockhampton City Council between 1909 and 1939. The Purrey Steam Tram operates each Sunday, 10am – 1pm from February to November each year.

Enjoy a morning tea in this wonderful historic atmosphere as you listen to the blast of the whistle and the clickety-clack of the tram on the tracks. This place also can be hired to have your wedding reception, birthday celebration, conference and more! This wonderful station is sure to have items of interest for many different age groups and truly is a rail lover's delight. Visit their Facebook page for any updates or upcoming events.
