One of the greatest plays of the twentieth century

University of Adelaide Theatre Guild continues its stellar 2022 season with the critically acclaimed ARCADIA by celebrated English playwright Tom Stoppard. Tickets are now on sale for this strictly limited season - 8 shows only.

Regarded as one of the best science-related works ever written by the Royal Institution of Great Britain, ARCADIA is an enthralling drama, that's part detective story, part rom-com and part scientific fantasy.

Kate Anolak as Lady Croom

ARCADIA is a play about fate, mathematics, feminism, gardening, apples and utter randomness but at the centre of it all is the story of a group of people who simply can't get it together when it comes to things that are actually important.

Maxwell Whigham, George Yankovych, Robert Baulderstone

This exciting Theatre Guild production is directed by Matthew Chapman, who is also a teacher with degrees in Drama, English and Education. Matthew was initially drawn to ARCADIA's debates on learning and inspiration, but being the old romantic that he is, stayed for the warmth of Stoppard's characters and hopes that they share that warmth on a cold winter's night.

Robert Baulderstone and Pari Nehvi

It's 1809 and thirteen-year-old Thomasina Coverly is a precocious mathematical genius, making sense of the world around her: her mother is obsessed with gardening, her tutor is having it off with the wife of a houseguest and the famous Lord Byron is skulking the corridors causing mischief.

As battle lines are drawn across the school table, a demand for satisfaction has terrible consequences.

Meanwhile, in the present day, writer Hannah Jarvis navigates descendants of the Coverly clan, a jumped up academic and time itself to investigate Thomasina's discoveries, the mysterious events that happened 200 years ago and exactly who the shadowy figure of death is that haunts the garden at Sidley Park…

Robert Baulderstone as Septimus Hodge
