Sydney in summer requires cooling down in one way or another, whether it's the beach or a pool, and children especially are looking for something more with thrills and fun in the mix. That's where water parks come in.

With a huge range of attractions and facilities, Aquatopia Water Park is one such place that provides these needs. Located within Prairiewood Leisure Centre, children and adults alike can beat the heat and enjoy all that is on offer.

Ride the 10m high giant slides, climb the adventure aqua tower with its 79 unique and amazing elements and try the new Stingray wave rider. Note some rides have height restrictions. Pools at the centre include a toddler's pool, a 50m outdoor pool and a 25m heated indoor pool with beach access.

Cabanas for general use and private bookings for groups are located around the water activities, making it easy for parents to keep an eye on the young ones. They're great for hanging out with friends or for birthday parties, are covered and come with picnic table seating, a ceiling fan, block out blinds and a small cooler fridge that holds a standard-sized birthday cake. There's also access to a barbecue and grassy area.

You can bring your own food to Aquatopia or purchase items, such as burgers and drinks, from the shop located at the centre's entry point.

Aquatopia is an affordable day out that's sure to put smiles on faces. Entry for Fairfield City residents is $15 each and $20 for visitors outside the local council area. Family passes are available for $50 (local residents) and $60 (non-residents). These are valid for 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children. Children are considered 15 years and under. Tickets can be purchased through Trybooking.

The cabana hire for private bookings is $250 for a medium cabana and includes ride bands for up to 10 people whilst a large cabana will cost you $350 for up to 15 people, including ride bands. The cabanas do seat more than these numbers and will take more, standing. To enquire and book these, call the centre on 9757 2433.

Opening times and days vary between the months of January to April from 10.30am to 11.00am with closure between 3pm and 5pm. Check the calendar for your chosen date.

Prairiewood Leisure Centre also offers a range of health and fitness facilities that include a gymnasium, a sauna and a large indoor aerobics studio. Check them out while you're there.
