If you're always on the prowl to discover little known off-leash hidden gems in the greater Brisbane region, then you're in luck - Aquatic Paradise Park West is exactly that. Located in Birkdale on Brisbane's beautiful bayside, just 21km from Brisbane's central business district, Aquatic Paradise Park West is not a park to be missed if you've got furbabies who love running around and having a romp without the restraint of a leash. With plenty of facilities for both pooches and their (big and little) humans, Aquatic Paradise Park West makes for a fun family day out with all members of the family - just BYO food and drinks for a picnic, or make good use of the electric barbecue facilities available here.
There are plenty of shady gazebos for patrons to enjoy a meal with a view, in addition to park benches scattered throughout the park in case you need a rest. In addition, there is, of course, a vast area of open green grass from which you can choose the perfect picnic spot - the options appear seemingly endless! Whichever option you go for, know that regardless of whether you want to sit in the shade or out in the sun, or whether you want to sit on a seat or down on the grass, the view of Brisbane's beautiful bayside will always be there for you.

For the adults who are thinking about bringing their little ones along, but are worried about how to keep them occupied and contained in the one place, Aquatic Paradise Park West has the answer - a playground! Kids will be kids, no matter how big they are - nothing beats the adrenaline rush of swinging up high, sliding down fast, or balancing precociously on narrow ledges. Best of all, there are giant canopies overhead so that the children will get some protection from the harsh Queensland sun, although of course, sunscreen is still a must!

Similar to how playgrounds are children's favourite facility when visiting a park, off-leash dog areas are the canine equivalent - lucky for you, Aquatic Paradise Park West has both. Unlike traditional off-leash dog parks in which the area is completely fenced off, the off-leash area at Aquatic Paradise Park West merely has signs informing patrons of where the off-leash area starts and ends. Remember to look out for these signs and follow them! Note: Seeing as the area is not completely fenced off, this off-leash area may not be for every dog out there. The off-leash area is sandwiched between the sea and the road - you know your dog best, so keep this information in mind before letting them explore the area without the restraint of a leash.
This unique sea-front off-leash area is expansive, with seemingly endless green, on green, coupled with a breathtaking view of the beautiful blue waters. There is enough space for dogs to run all the energy out of themselves, with plenty of interesting things for the dogs to sniff out. Of course, as with all other dog parks (and public spaces in general), do remember to pick up after your pooch - there are doggy bags provided near the bin at the end of the off-leash area closer to the playground. Stock up before you let your furbabies loose!
