We are so lucky here on the Gold Coast to have so many beautiful beaches, parks and recreation areas.
One of the best around is the Broadwater Parklands. Located on Marine Parade at Southport on the Northern End of the Gold Coast, Broadwater Parklands covers a huge area and is over 3 km's long and runs from just next to the recently refurbished Aquatic Centre to the northern side of the Sundale Bridge.
The Parklands has plenty of wide open space and is a popular spot all year round for picnics and parties. It is also the location for markets and concerts throughout the year with a purpose built stage being utilised for the latter.
Scattered throughout the park are numerous picnic shelters and barbeques or there are plenty of grass areas where you can throw down a picnic rug. The area is filled with trees that provide shade during the hot summer months. There is an enclosed swimming area which is patrolled by life guards. It even has a pontoon that you can swim out to and jump or dive off. This area is ideal for the littlies as there are no big waves like at the beach.
This lovely enclosed swimming area is ideal for all the family.
But the best thing about the Broadwater Parklands is the Aqua Splash Water Park. It's like a giant jumping castle but on the water and is extremely popular. Opening during the Gold Coast's hot summer months, Aqua Splash caters for ages from 4 and up and even the 'big kids' can join in the fun.
After booking in and receiving your safety briefing and a life vest it is time to hit the water. Each session runs for about 50 minutes and I can guarantee your kids will be exhausted by the end of it after they have jumped, swung, bounced and swam their way over the obstacles.
Aqua Splash is so much fun the kids will want to keep coming back again and again.
