If you've had the pleasure of a lazy weekend breakfast at Apples on Ainsworth, you know it's a pretty sweet place to fuel up on coffee and some great organic food. It's also a top place to stop for a takeaway coffee on the way to work; bring your favourite cup (I have a Darth Vader travel mug, but I freely admit to being a weirdo) and they will fill that for you. If you're dining in, it's ok if you don't come armed with a coffee mug, Apples has a pretty eclectic range of cups for you. I remember one time my mate ordered a large coffee, and it was served to her in a genuine 1970's Continental Soup Mug.

Obviously they have a sense of humour as well, and this is evident in the funky décor of mismatched cutlery and vintage wall pieces. Topping it all off are some inspired menu choices (the Spanish eggs are excellent), all featuring local organic ingredients. The coffee is especially good; Apples has a very consistent supplier down in Byron Bay, and their baristas consistently perform well in competitions. Topped off with some great Maleny milk, a flat white from here is a thing of beauty.

Local residents quickly cottoned on and can be found patiently waiting for their caffeine fix whenever the café's doors are open. It creates a nice environment when the people who love drinking coffee are in the same room as those who enjoy making it. Watching the friendly Saturday morning banter between staff and regulars makes me happy to drive the fifty kilometres (one way) to have breakfast here.

So what could possibly make this any better? Well, starting next week on Tuesday the 7th of February, Apples on Ainsworth will be opening in the evenings.

Owner Miguel says "Our customers have been so good to us for the last six years. We've really enjoyed serving them their coffee, tea, juices and breakfast in the morning. We're so happy to now be able to offer them a healthy and freshly prepared dinner as well."

So come along and eat at a great organic café on Brisbane's southside. Keep an eye on the Apples on Ainsworth social channels for more details about the evening menu
