Support and celebrate our local artists by dropping by the pop-up art gallery at the Entrance foreshore. This June (2022), artists Naomi Veitch and Katerina Apale have their art on display at the mini gallery in the park. The gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm throughout the month.

Naomi Veitch creates refined paintings and prints that elevate the concept of coastal art. Her website notes that Naomi, noticing the same iterations of beach themed art being mass-produced and consumed by homeowners who have no alternatives, set out to establish Coastal Art Australia to offer bespoke pieces that celebrate the beautiful marine life of the Central Coast. Her coastal pieces are uniquely familiar – a nod to the beloved scenes of the coast in a style that is gentle and delicate. The Bluebottle and Sea Turtle paintings are my favourites - stunningly ethereal and would make beautiful additions to any home. Naomi also creates wire sculptures and offers private art classes.

Katerina Apale is an artist who uses colour to communicate the importance of being in the moment. Her paintings feature nature and still life at their most vivid – expressing true joie de vivre in each piece. Her website notes that she aims to bring boring spaces to life through her eye-catching and lively art. Her "Magnolias" and "Tranquility" pieces, both on exhibit at the pop-up art gallery, immediately caught my eye for their striking execution. Katerina has featured in group and individual exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Belarus, Austria, Germany, and Australia since 2002. She also has sketches and limited edition prints on her website

It was a welcome surprise for me to chance upon this gallery at The Entrance. This is your chance to admire their art and adorn your home with beautifully unique pieces by these two brilliant artists. Apart from the paintings, there are also limited edition prints and greeting cards available for purchase.

The pop-up gallery is an initiative of the Central Coast Council that extends opportunities to local artists and other creatives to use facilities such as the galleries and studios to house their exhibitions or classes. For more information on this, see their webpage .
