As part of this year's ANZAC commemorations, City of Playford is conducting an overnight vigil as well as a dawn service at the Smithfield Memorial Gardens.

On Sunday the 24th of April 2022, a 7:30pm opening ceremony will mark the beginning of the vigil where local service groups such as Ridley District Scouts, Playford District Girl Guides and St John Ambulance Cadets guard the cenotaph for the duration of the night. The City of Playford mayor will be hosting the ceremony with an AUSLAN interpreter.

Then, on Monday morning at 6am, a dawn service will pay tribute to both past and present men and women who have served in wars, conflicts and peace operations. Pastor Bryan Sellars will be joining the mayor in this service.

Both commemorative events are free and members of the public are invited to come along. The Smithfield Memorial Gardens is located on Anderson Walk in Smithfield. For more information, please head to their website at www.playford.sa.gov.au .
