Circus in a skate park and drama in a cafe
An exciting festival kicks off in Frankston this month proving that performing arts need not be confined to the theatre.

Anywhere Theatre Frankston is the first of its kind to launch in Victoria, with Brisbane based not-for-profit company Anywhere Theatre Festival Ltd expanding their vision to offer exciting, engaging, passionate theatre in anywhere but traditional theatre spaces.

After a hugely successful launch in 2011 Anywhere Theatre Festival Brisbane increased attendee numbers to 66,000 in 2012, up by 4,000 on the first year, and became the only festival in Queensland's capital to be nominated in QANTAS Travel Insiders "Top Nine International Festivals".

In 2013, Anywhere Theatre Festival Brisbane featured 49 productions, 270 performances and the work of over 265 local producers, actors, dancers, comedians, directors, vocalists, playwrights, puppeteers, designers and production. In a short time frame, Anywhere Theatre Festival Ltd has been able to provide the infrastructure to showcase 117 locally produced world premieres, more than any Queensland arts organisation.

"Story telling began as something we did around camp fires and over time it has been ghettoed inside traditional theatre venues and the structures that go with them."– Paul Osuch, Anywhere Theatre Festival.

Anywhere Theatre Festival Frankston introduces engaging creative performance to Melbourne's South East. Take your children to a circus and cabaret act held in a historical home, see acrobatics performed at a rock climbing centre, enjoy drama acted out in a funky cafe, as well as poetry reading in a gallery space, watch contemporary dance in a shopping plaza and lots more.
