Antonio Park Primary Carnivale Fete, feathers & boas galore
Well its that time of year again, and I must say one of my favourites- it's Antonio Park Primary School's annual fete.
And the theme this year is CARNIVALE
So don the feathers and boas, and get your dancing shoes on, because it's going to be a fun filled colourful event.
What I have always loved about the local school fetes, which have somewhat changed over the last few years, are those amazing traditional stalls. Whether it is a collection of 'mum baked' cakes and toffees or trash 'n treasure, Antonio Park Primary sure taps into the 'old school' fun of fete atmosphere, quite literally
The stalls this year include a doughnut stall, sno-cones, Devonshire tea, second hand books, jam and cake stall, pre-loved toy stall, and trash 'n' treasure, just to name a few. Crafts and competitions also make a welcome addition with lucky numbers, lob-a-choc, silent auction and captivating craft on display.
For the first time ever, this year at the fete there will be a pasta restaurant. That's right folks, wine and dine the wifey (or hubby) by candlelight (and romantic ambience of the school hall) whilst the kids are enjoying the rides. Not only will your special half be wined and dined in the restaurant, they will also be entertained. It has been revealed that the band 'Jeepster' will make a late appearance 5pm-7pm, following the school choir , who are performing at 4pm, not to mention the 'mumbojumbo' band who will be serenading you all afternoon.
Not forgetting the bigger kids, (by bigger kids, I also mean us adults) there are numerous rides to enjoy such as the Cha Cha, Bad Boys and Hurricane. For the younger kids, Tea cups, Chair-o-plane, Jurassic Adventure and Trackless Train are all there to enjoy, together with the no age restricted Giant Slide, Adrenalin Rush and my personal favourite, the Animal Farm. So lots of fun for everyone.
Wristbands are available to purchase on fete day for $35 (school age and adult) or $25 if purchased prior to fete day. Pre-school children will cost $20 pre-fete day or $30 on the day. The wristband entitles the bearer to unlimited rides all day. Wristbands can be purchased at the school office prior to the fete. For those who do not wish to purchase a wristband, individual ride tickets will be available on the day of the Fete for all rides.
The food and beverage options over the last few years have always been amazing, offering falafel wraps, BBQ, sno-cones, poffertjes, coffee, doughnuts and lots more. I personally like to make my way over to the Jam and Cake stall for a home made pie to take home for dinner or dessert. I might even grab myself a truffle or cookie whilst there. Yum!
This year's raffle, Raffle Mania, is always popular with attendees as the prizes are always appealing, and this year does not disappoint. With 1st prize consisting of a $2000 Red Balloon voucher (need I go on?), 2nd prize PS4 , 3rd prize $200 JB HiI Fi voucher and 4th prize Soda Steam (incuding six flavours), the $2 ticket cost is well worth it.
Personally though, if I had to name my favourite thing about Antonio Park Primary School Fete (5th year attendee now), I would have to say that I just love seeing that beautiful community spirit. All the staff are out in force wearing fully themed costumes, not to mention more than a few parents, all helping out, laughing and having a great time. Everyone is happy to come up and say 'G'day' and really make the day special and fun for all. Now that's what a school fete is all about!
