Ladies, the race of the year, the Melbourne Cup, is looming on the horizon. It's time to begin your search for a stunning hat to wear to that special function where you want to wow your friends with your fashion acumen. And think of all the photos you can post on Facebook.

Gwendalyn has agreed to model some hats for you.
Remember back in 1965 when Jean Shrimpton outraged Melbourne's polite society by turning up to Australia's premier social function without a hat, gloves or stockings? And shock horror, her hemline was above her knees.
In the interests of you not making a similar faux pas simply because you couldn't find a hat in time at a reasonable price, I will with Gwendalyn's help, showcase some designer hats from Antique & Vintage At Uki, about 15 minutes drive from Murwillumbah.

This creation shouts 'Look at Moi'.
This next hat has the allure of romance for those who want to make a feminine statement.

A feminine hat with a hint of a bygone era.
Next Gwendalyn will wear a beautiful hat for the more demure woman but she is probably the one wearing the under garment I'll feature later.

This one is for those who like to look demure with an aura of mystery.
Oh dear, Gwendalyn has quit to follow her passion; she says she has always wanted to be a foot model. I suppose we should wish her well. Thankfully Juliann, the owner of Antique & Vintage At Uki has agreed to step in at the last moment and help us with the photo shoot.

If you are attending a Melbourne cup event with a hot date you may want to check out the range of undergarments.

The undergarments come in a range of colours.
Many of the hats at Antique & Vintage At Uki are by the designer brand Hatrageos. They are worth several hundred dollars if bought new. Juliann showed me one that had never been worn, with the price tag of $700 still attached. However, her prices are much more reasonable: fascinators are $20 and hats start at $25.
After you have found the perfect hat you may also like to peruse the huge selection of shoes, bags and other preloved items for sale.
I wish you a great time at your Melbourne Cup event, hope you wow your friends with your outfit and get fabulous photos to post on Facebook.
