Remembering the Anzacs
From the 4th of August this year, Australia will begin commemorating the Centenary of the First World War.

There are many commemorations planned for remembering the Great War, including the Anzac services in Gallipoli in 2015 and across the country.

Anzac Centenary commemorative events and initiatives will run until 2018, reflecting the length of the Great War.

The 2014 Annual Hawke lecture will focus on this time in history and the part it plays in our shared heritage.

The public lecture will discuss why it is important to observe this time in history. In addition to asking why the Anzac story and values remain so central to what it means to be an Australian today and in the future.

The Centenary not only provides us with the opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of our past and current servicemen and women but to unify this ever-changing nation.
