2021 marks the 125th anniversary of the West Australian Society of Arts (WASA), the oldest arts society in WA!
To celebrate this special occasion, WASA is hosting a 125th Anniversary Exhibition, from the 5th to 7th March at Italian Club Fremantle. Entry is FREE and all are welcome to come along and support this prestigious art society!
WASA's beginnings can be traced back to 1889 when it existed as the Wilgie Sketching Club. The present society was incorporated in 1896 and is now regarded as a vibrant entity with a membership of around 150 talented located artists.
WASA prides itself on being the home for beginners and professional artists in all main media categories and the upcoming exhibition will include a diverse selection of mediums including oil & acrylic, watercolour, en plein air, printmaking, pastels & drawings and digital & 3D art. The display will also be complemented with exhibits of sculpture, glass, textiles and pottery.
WASA's motto is to 'Encourage, Educate, Exhibit' and at the 125th Anniversary Exhibition, you'll have a unique opportunity to meet the passionate local artists and admire their works up close.
The exhibition will be opened by the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia on Friday 5th March 2021, 6pm to 9pm. The award winners will also be announced on Opening Night.
The exhibition is open to the public Friday 5th March 9.00am-6.00pm, Saturday 6th March 9.00am-5.00pm and Sunday 7th March 9.00am-5.00pm.
