Join the fun at the bi-annualAnnerley Junction Fest this Saturday 7 December, 2019 and take advantage of the perfect opportunity to have all your Christmas shopping wrapped up (wrapped up, get it?) so you can just ease on into the big day when it arrives.
The Junction Fest is a two-part fun day of shopping and relaxing. Take the morning to finish off your Christmas Shopping and the afternoon to relax with a cold drink and some jazz.
Entry to the Festival is FREE and over 40 stalls will be operating to ensure your every gift idea is covered. The central action will be taking place between 9.00am and 1.00pm on the Ipswich Road footpath from Waldheim Street to the big Woolworths Supermarket. Along the way check out what's on offer in the historical Annerley Arcade where the downstairs area will have the kids in raptures with FREE face-painting, kids' art activities and play area (might have a few parents on cloud nine as well).
Along with all the goodies available at the stalls there is also going to be pop up photo booths, a puppet parade from the recent Creative Annerley Creative Workshops and, most importantly, Santa and his elves will be available for requests from good boys and girls with perhaps some exceptions being made for those who are now trying to be good.
Food trucks and some live music from local rock band, The Parentals will be on hand in the Dudley Street Carpark to relax the inner soul during and after some serious Christmas shopping.
New attractions at the Junction Fest this year include craft demonstrations in the Annerley Hall, 8 Waldheim Street between 10.00am and 12.30pm. Come along and learn some new skills such as beeswax wraps, DYI lampshade, silver clay jewellery and upcycled Christmas Crackers. Also in that vein, the Annerley Library, 450 Ipswich Road will be running some very interesting workshops on edible gardening for health-conscious adults and providing an opportunity for children to learn to build robots from Cubelets Robot Blocks.
For added safety this year the part of Dudley Street from Ipswich Road to Lambton Street will be closed to traffic so cars will not be mixing with the pedestrians.
Once the shopping is over it's time to relax and how better to do that than enjoying an afternoon of jazz at the Junction Hotel from 12.00pm to 5.00pm. Jazz bands, Revelation Groove and Yas Queen along with Phillip Young will be hot in the air-conditioned comfort of the Hotel.
The Annerley Junction Fest celebrates the community by bringing people to Annerley Junction through the warmth and friendliness of the shopping precinct. As an added incentive to maintain this wonderful community spirit every $1 spent at a local business means 45c is reinvested locally; compared to 15c at a corporate chain.
Think local, live local and buy local.
Bring your friends and family to the Junction Fest for a great FREE day out and enjoy what Annerley has to offer.
