I am a keen traveller. Currently rediscovering my own backyard and the rest of Australia. I enjoy nature, history and the quirkiness of what the world has to offer.

Your choc-mint pelvik floor is so boring

At first glance Hoyle's work, gouache and acrylic on fabriano paper, looks like an ordinary front cover of a magazine or book but on closer inspection, the viewer can see it's a play on words and satire. The works look at consumerism and social trends with front covers of 'fictional' books.

"Presented as both 'fictional' book paintings and graphic text-based paintings, I see the works as humorous, self-deprecating musings on the pressures of recent trends in society amidst an age of many anxieties, self-help /wellness methodologies and material and existential overload.

In this work I have also built on my love for the aesthetics of text in my found and invented phrases." Anna Hoyle, 2021
