Hi, I love living a simple life in my island home. Whether cooking, camping, sailing or sewing, I'm happy sharing my lifestyle with you.
Event:
Well that floors me Do dummies talk?
I'm starting to believe mannequine's can talk. Just ask Anna Heggie who finds their attitude and human form captivating. Her current exhibition of paintings and photographs under Redland Museum's magnificent high arched ceiling portrays Anna's treatment of the feminine personas, particularly the larger pieces, to perfection.

"Layla", a photograph on Photo Rag Paper is of a nude mannequin standing provocatively in nothing but tattoos and a suspender belt. Anna uses chiaroscuro to create the mannequin's mood of sexual vulnerability yet highlights the creative faces of young women in the background.

The tattoo theme continues with the painted torso, 'La Rouge'. The fine collar bones and natural swell of the breasts draw attention to the painted flower leading the eye to the lace and leopard print bustier. There's fantasy here waiting to unfold for the curious who attend the floor talk.

Included in the exhibition are vintage fashions restored by the dedicated ladies from the museum Textile Section. Delicate fringed shawls, an exquisitely cut morning coat, dresses from the past and beaded accessories are a delight to discover in this inspiring exhibition. Some of the embroidery designs lend themselves to body art.

Anna's informal floor talk will explain why she finds the mannequin's alluring qualities captivating. The story beside each art work is intriguing. If you're a writer or artist, bring your group to be inspired to imagine scenarios for characters and plot in your next piece of work.

Spend Saturday afternoon, 14th March, browsing this fun exhibition and meet the artist for an informal and entertaining floor talk on the process, ideas and outcome of talking with the mannequins. Complimentary afternoon tea.
