Animating Spaces is an innovative multi-arts project which aims to revitalise regional communities through the arts. This year the towns of Roma, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Cooktown and Samford have come together to stage three major arts events: Samford Shorts, Sculpting Samford and Celebrate Samford. These events will run over two days; Friday 12th September and Saturday 13th September.
Samford Shorts will be held on Friday 12th September and feature a special outdoor screening of entertaining short films made by talented members of the Samford community. The screening will take place at John Scott Park, Samford Village, and is sure to be a great night out for all family and friends. Bring along a comfy rug and enjoy a delicious variety of food and drinks available for purchase onsite.
The following day, Sculpting Samford will take place. On Saturday 13th September from 4:30pm, a number of sculptures will be unveiled along the Samford Parklands trail. Enter from the Warwick lane section and free parking will be available near the new Samford Dog Park.
Later in the evening, the festivities will conclude with Celebrate Samford, featuring a great line up of family-friendly entertainment at John Scott Park from 5pm to 9pm. There will be a range of activities to enjoy, including:
* Twilight Markets, featuring a wide range of hand-made arts and crafts, all lovingly made by local talented artisans.
*The Big Bambusa, a mini-circus starring local performers Hoopla Clique, The Sound Clowns and The Sparkly Troupe.
*A lantern procession with fire performer, fire twirler and entertainer Dylan Jones, from Spun Entertainment.
* Free interactive Glow Zone set up for Hoola hooping and poi twirling.
*Headline act and Ferny Grove local, Deejay Brooklyn, will be behind the decks, spinning great tracks throughout the evening.
All events are free to attend and participate in.
