Meet Tinkerbell, the friendly body wrapping Python
Your child's birthday cake has been ordered, piņata ready to be filled with treats, party pies purchased, sandwiches planned and cupcake ideas pinned on pinterest, and all that remains is to organise some sort of entertainment for a bunch of eager, sugar-fuelled kids ready to run riot.

You might be brave enough to arrange a concession of party games, but if musical bumps don't quite cut it, you could book an entertainer to arrive at your home all geared up to lead your child's party-going crew.

Children with a passion for wildlife will love Animals of Oz; a mobile educational program based out of South East Melbourne. Animals of Oz organise a range of activities including birthday parties, childcare and school incursions, fete and shopping centre displays as well as corporate functions.

Should you wish to book Animals of Oz for your child's birthday party (as we recently did), your host will travel to your home with an array of fabulous Australian wildlife species, introducing reptilian, amphibian, feathered and nocturnal furry friends such as:

Stumpy the Central Bearded Dragon and Cheeky the Frilled Lizard

Your child will act as the Animals of Oz 'ranger' for the duration of the hour, introducing each species to his or her friends, with plenty of photograph opportunities for both the kids, and the adults too.

Arriving approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of the show, your Animals of Oz host, quite possibly Jesse as you see below, will carry covered cages into your yard or house, ready for each animal's grand reveal.

With an emphasis on caring for local wildlife, children are prompted to answer appropriate critter questions related to each species, in a fun, informative hour that keeps everyone captivated.

Stars of the show would have to be Tinkerbell in all her friendly body wrapping Python glory, and Sammi the Saltie Croc with his fine set of gnashers.

Be prepared for children's squeals and perhaps a few nervous laughs from the adults, as each animal is taken from its cage and circled amongst the group.

A word of advice though, don't dress your child in his or her best outfit, remembering such animals are not litter trained and nor should they be, so there might be a few accidents along the way.

If you are looking for an educational and fun party idea, do consider Animals of Oz for your child's birthday, for a highly recommended, alternative birthday celebration that everyone will remember.
