Humanity has had a huge impact on the natural environment. Our actions and inactions affect the world around us, including animals.
Caboolture Regional Art Gallery's newest exhibition, Animal FanFair will run from Saturday 12 July to Saturday 6 September 2014.
The Artists work featured in this captivating and thought provoking exhibition explore the animal/human relationship. Over the past decade, there has been a growing interest by practicing artists in exploring this relationship through image. Some of the Artists have been pushed to the limits of their comfort zone, which is where we need to be to see the reality of certain human to animal practices.
Artists exhibiting include Katka Adams, Marian Drew, Hayden Fowler, Kelly Hussey-Smith, Owen Hutchison, Claude Jones, Sam Leach, Emma Lindsay, Rod McRae and Walter Stahl.
Each of the selected Artists speak to us through their visual mediums of our own ability to appreciate the wonders of the natural world and the gravity of human impact on the natural world. The exhibiting Artists urge us to consider the complex and often contradictory relationship we have with animals and the environment that supports them.
Artists have worked individually from their studios in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria; each engendering a passion for their message. Their works of art implore us to question the ethics of keeping, killing and engineering new species. They have each come to their artwork in their own way and offer the viewer an opportunity to see these issues from alternate angles.
Media included in this exciting and provocative exhibition include:
photography, moving images, painting, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, installations and performance art.
The artists of Animal FanFair are only a few of the many people who are dedicated to fostering greater awareness, conservation and action to improve humankind's relationship with animals.
Animal FanFair was originally exhibited at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery in Jan/Feb 2014, so if you missed out then, make sure that you come along to view this more developed version at the
