Take your family on an alternative animal encounter
The animals are coming to the Art Gallery of Western Australia and everyone is invited to join in the fun. From 7 June the Animal Ark exhibition will feature works from the State Art Collection that show the many ways animals have been portrayed by generations of artists.
The exhibit explores the use of animal motifs in art, history and myth. The range of paintings, sculpture and decorative art will illuminate the differences – and perhaps the similarities – between humans and animals and the many ways they relate to each other.
Animal Ark includes art trails and activity sheets to make it a learning adventure for all ages. Visitors can draw or write about their favourite animal in the family exhibition space and then take their creation home or leave it on display.
Animal Ark runs until 19 October. Admission is free. Note: The Art Gallery is closed Tuesdays.
