Angry Birds The Movie – Film Review

You will remember Angry Birds as a highly addictive time sucking app that had you sleep deprived for months. No? Well I forgot what sleep felt like for a while there. However when I heard they made an Angry Birds movie I just couldn't stay away and I am glad that I didn't.

This is a story about one particular angry bird named RED (Jason Sudeikis) whose short fuse lands him in Anger Management Classes. There he makes two new friends, speedy Chuck (Josh Brad) and Bomb (Danny McBride), who clearly have issues of their own.

When their little world is invaded by a ship of green naked pigs, Red is further bothered. With Chuck and Bomb's help he sets out to expose the green visitors for the invaders they really are.

The movie had all the kids giggling just a few minutes in and me laughing and cringing quite a few times. The lake scene was gold, a stream of gold as it turns out.

I enjoyed Red challenging this seemingly perfect bird world. Why did everyone always have to be so agreeable? What is so wrong being different and having an opinion?

Two six year old girls told me that their favourite part was and I quote: ' The one that spits fireballs out of her butt'.

Too honest? Perhaps, but there you have it!

Angry Birds is one for the whole family. It's out now in cinemas everywhere. Go enjoy, laugh and criticise their slingshot technic, I know I did.
