Angry Birds 2 returns with an icy bang!

The Angry Birds 2 sequel begins following on the enmity between the birds and the pigs in the first Angry Birds movie from 2016. Jason Sudeikis (as Red, our hero), Danny McBride (as the lovable Bomb), Maya Rudolph (as the sensible Matilda), Josh Gad (as speedy Chuck), Peter Dinklage (as Mighty Eagle with a few shades of grey) & Bill Hader (as the prank-loving King Leonard) reprise their roles with the addition of, Leslie Jones (as an embittered Zeta) and Rachel Bloom (as the brilliant physicist Silver who also plays Red's love interest). This sequel adds great new characters to the original cast.

The sequel expands on the original movie until the birds and pigs are united by a common threat, large icy ball projectiles from Eagle Island leading to a truce between the two., At this stage Red and his friends form a frenemies team with King Leonard's henchmen to stop Zeta the chief of Eagle Island from destroying their homes.

On arriving on Eagle Island the team of birds and pigs experience leadership spills, a sequence full of potty humour to steal ID cards for access and a hilarious breakdance battle, which had everyone rolling in the aisles!

The movie is great for all ages with sarcastic puns, simple jokes and funny dialogues through the hour and a half long movie providing lots of laughs for everyone. The movie follows along an energetic storyline partnered with a concurrent story and just enough history, and is spiced with a few good morals thrown in to keep the experience enjoyable.

The movie is made by Rovio Animation, Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures and, releases in Australia on 12 September 2019. Angry Birds 2 integrates the numerous characters quite well with everyone given the spotlight and equal exposure while pushing a few boundaries. The storyline is simplistic, full of colour and cuteness, slightly predictable at times however, thoroughly enjoyable and fun.

Angry Birds 2 is certainly a movie to add to your list if you enjoyed the popular Angry Birds games, TV series (on Netflix) and the first instalment of the animated movie. Go check it out in your nearest Hoyts cinemas for a fun-filled animation with hot air balloons, lava - in - ice balls, a wedding and lots of laughs!
