Walk, Stretch, Swim, Read & Play

For those who live in or near enough to town even a day in Anglesea, at the start of the iconic Great Ocean Road, will leave you feeling as fresh and renewed as if you've had a weekend away. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne, it's a place to admire sprawling seascapes, watch the waves roll in, beach walk, swim if the red and yellow flags are up, walk in the shallows if they're not, even some rock scrambling or even cycling all doable on the one stunning stretch of Main Beach

Aim for low tide walks go you can go as far as your heart's desire or check out the Surf Coast Walk map and do suitable sections. While sand walking is great, walking knee high in water not only lifts spirits, it also tones legs.

Or simply watch the waves roll in under a spectacular sky that stretches across what has to be one of the prettiest seascapes in Australia, even at twilight. Or read, that precious luxury so many of us love, yet let slip by the wayside.

Pack an esky or pop into town for a bite, Minerva and the Bean easily the cosiest and quirkiest little eatery with excellent coffee and food.

A gelato before you head home is a must for topping off a terrific day, the drive home as easy as a sea breeze, the rest of the week more uplifted for it.

Too many of us are running around like mad. Immersing ourselves deep in slow, sublime nature, if even for a day, is not only doable, it's essential.

Grab the partner, the kids, friends, family or just your precious self, a pair of legs and a good book - and go!
