After a morning exploring the spring flowers and playground at Laurel Bank Park , the umbrellas on the outdoor terrace at Angelo's House looked most inviting. The historic homestead is located directly opposite the children's playground, making it an ideal venue for coffee and cake or lunch after a busy morning playing.

Angelo's House is surrounded by its own lovely gardens and there was something quite homely about entering through the picket fence and heading up the garden path to the cafe's front door. The heritage style Queenslander, formerly named Herries House, was built in 1904 by the McIntyre Family. The original character of the house has been maintained and guests can choose to sit indoors or outdoors for their meal.

We chose to sit on the shady verandah overlooking the park. For lunch, I just had to try the hand made pasta and can now highly recommend the fresh, soft gnocci, served with sage from the restaurant's own herb garden. They also have a great children's menu, and my children particularly enjoyed their calamari and their chicken fillets served with garden salad immensely.

Angelo's House caters for weddings and special events, and it's location next to the park, makes it a romantic choice for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or Father's Day too. The service was super friendly and even welcoming towards the children (which is always such a relief for me). The food is sourced locally and made on site where possible and our whole experience at Angelo's House was positive and memorable.
