Sunday for our family is spent driving to different locations in order to watch our son play his beloved sport - soccer or as he would call it "the real football". We usually arrive at least an hour before he plays, so my husband and I have time to explore the neighbourhood in search for a good coffee or grab a bite to eat.

A couple of Sundays ago we found ourselves over in enemy territory in Yeronga. So while our son was warming up, we drove just down the road and came across a small cafe and decided this would be our 'warm up'.

The cafe called Anesis (Greek meaning -'a loosening, relaxation of strain') is located right across the road from Hyde park in Yeronga which gives it a relaxed, neighbourly feel. The cafe on this Sunday seemed to have a steady stream of lunch patrons which is always a good sign.

The staff appeared friendly and helpful and the lunch menu had a lot of choices. We missed out on the breakfast menu by about 20 minutes as they stop serving breakfast at 11.30am. My husband chose a lamb and haloumi burger with chips and my choice was a lamb and Rosemary filo with salad.

While waiting for our meals we sat outside and relaxed taking in the Sunday ambience of the place. I had ordered coffee which arrived to our table quickly and hot. I tend to judge a cafe by the quality of their coffee and I was particularly impressed with the coffee and would definitely be back to have their coffee again.

The meals didn't take long to make it to our table and they looked fresh and enticing. The sizes were quite generous and we couldn't wait to tackle them. My husband was very impressed with his burger and had difficulty finishing it. My lamb filo did not taste as good as it looked and I was a little disappointed in my choice. Luckily the salad was good, so between the coffee and salad, I was still happy.

Next time if our son is playing over this way and we happen to come here again, then maybe the cakes, pastries and sweets with coffee for morning or afternoon tea may be on my to do list.

By the way our son's team narrowly lost the game on this day but it was an exciting game.
