"In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." Andy Warhol was right. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of the king of pop art, the largest exhibition of his art will be going on tour in Asia. The exhibition Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal made it's first stop in Singapore and is currently on show at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from December 15th 2012 to March 31st 2013, before moving on to Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo.

In collaboration with the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, 15 Minutes Eternal will showcase over 468 paintings, photographs, drawings, screen prints and installations incorporating films. A special feature of the Hong Kong leg of the exhibit is Time Capsule 23. Warhol stored items from daily life into hundreds of cardboard boxes known as Time Capsules. Time Capsule 23 features items from Warhol's visit to Hong Kong and Beijing in 1982, which include a photo of Warhol overlooking the Victoria Harbour, as well as a calendar from a local bookstore.

The exhibit is divided into different stages of his life starting with the 1950s, where he begins his career as an artist in New York. The 1960s section recreates the Factory, the famous silver covered art studio in New York where silkscreens and films were made. This section features some of the films by Warhol, as well as a Silver Cloud installation where silver balloons float freely around visitors.

The 1970s marks his shift to a different studio on Broadway and showcases Warhol's many portraits of celebrities. The final section highlights the peak of Warhol's career, with self-portraits and photos from his attendance at multiple events. In addition to magazines and fashion shows, Warhol also became involved in television during this time, including a show named Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes, where he interviews emerging musicians.

Visitors can also get a taste of 15 minutes eternal by getting their picture taken (Warhol portrait style) at the end of the exhibit and watching it appear on the screens. Check out the official website for more information.
