Sydney Comedy Fest is fast approaching and there is once again an abundance of shows to choose from.

There are lots of good'ns in there so I thought I'd share my favourite picks over the next few weeks and chat to some of the comics performing to get a bit more about their shows.

The first one that I am particularly excited for is Andrew Hastings and Cait Johnson's 'Slumber Party Comedy'.

When I heard the concept for the show I was pretty stoked.
It's all in the name.

They are going to be in their pyjamas and they invite you to be in yours, in a room full of pillows and popcorn while they tell you jokes…Whaaaat?

I wrote last year about Andrew's comedy when he paired up with fellow comedian, Reece Piper to bring us 'Mortal Comedy' (A show where the two battled it out over whose shortcomings would make us laugh the most).

The 'Raw Comedy' State finalist also took part in last year's Adelaide Fringe show 'We Aint Scared Of You' with fellow comedy pals, Reece Piper, Daniel Muggleton, Sam Kettler and Anith Mukherjee.

Then he and Anith got together again for 'Misery Twins' at last year's Fringe; as well as returning back to Adelaide Fringe this year, alongside Gearard McGowen for 'Mucho Relaxo Touro'

Andrew is definitely a stand out and one to watch out for. I love his mostly self-deprecating humour, jokes about his dad and living the Emo-life, so I am glad to see that he is back this year.

This year he is teaming up with Cait, who is just as much fun. Her offbeat, clever humour is delivered mostly in a straight face, a massive contrast the audience, who are laughing throughout.

She has two Sydney Fringe shows under her belt, teaming up with Gearard Mcgeown and Tom Cashman for 'Two Guys A Girl One Cup'. Then with Gearard and Matt Lane for 'Three's Comedy', She also hit Adelaide Fringe this year for 'Quantity Over Comedy', together with Reece piper and Dan Muggleton.

The two have both been around the comedy circuit for the past couple of years and it's great to see them growing as artists.

I asked the pair a couple of questions about the festival and their show.

How would you describe your comedy?

Andrew: "I feel weird describing my own comedy but I guess I would say my jokes are sad, there's a review which says (in reference to me) "teenage poetry's loss is comedy's gain" which I think is a nice way of putting it."

What about Cait's comedy?

Andrew: I think Cait's comedy is fucking hilarious, she can probably phrase it better."

Cait: "My comedy I would say is pretty dry. Andrew's comedy is smart, occasionally dark."

What are your other picks for the festival?

Andrew: "I have a lot of festival picks but off the top of my head I'm most psyched for Spooky Best Friend Hour II, Eric Hutton, Reece Piper, Sam Campbell, Jekyll x James, Wolf Club Tokyo."

Cait: "My pick for festival is Corey White."

What can we expect to see?

Andrew: "It's a stand up comedy show where we try and create a slumber party vibe, it's just me and Cait doing half an hour of stand up each, but we'll be in our pyjamas and we encourage the audience to come in their pyjamas too. The seats will be decked out with doonas and pillows and snacks and general slumber party stuff to enjoy while the stand up show happens, it'll be a lot of fun."

Cait: I think our show will be the comfiest of the Sydney comedy festival!"

%%(Who could argue that?)

I am looking forward to checking them out again and highly recommend this one.
