**Start the weekend on a high note at The Atrium Bar on 35 at The Sofitel on Collins in Melbourne.
**
To tie in with the international smash-hit musical, & JULIET, currently playing at The Regent Theatre, they've launched a cocktail menu inspired by the song and dance routines in the show. You can order I Want It That Way, Roar, Hathaway and De Bois Band.

The Sofitel is one of Melbourne's darlings, an exquisite hotel famous for its luxury accommodation, five-star service, grand function rooms, delicious high teas and wonderful food and views from No 35 .

I visited last Friday night to try the new range of cocktails and talk with the food and events team from the Sofitel and the & JULIET show. The bar itself is an elegant affair, on a raised platform in the centre of the 35th floor. We were lucky to be treated to a flash mob of dancers from a local dance studio, a dynamic bunch of young people training for professional dancing careers, who had to work a tough (and quiet) crowd. It was an excellent introduction to Max Martin's pop music and the high-energy performances involved in the show.

My favourite drink of the night was Roar ($35), a cocktail that evokes the passion and drama of & JULIET. Offering a modern-day margarita infused with Patron Anejo, blood orange and Chinese 5 spice syrup, garnished with a boozy blood orange wedge and a kiss of ocean spume, it beckons you to indulge in its rich and complex notes.

I must admit that I liked the sour beetroot cocktail, I Want It That Way ($30) with its pairing of beetroot, gin and elderflower finished off with a lemon foam swirl and beetroot heart. With beetroot juice in it, it's almost a health food!

The Hathaway ($30), is an espresso martini that comes with a fancy smoked hickory bubble over the glass and which offers a fusion of coffee, almond, caramel and citrus flavours blended from the exquisite flavours of Mount Gay XO, Tia Maria, Disaronno and Kopke Port. If you like an espresso martini, this is a must-try.

De Bois Band ($28), a clear reincarnation of the traditional Bloody Mary, comes with its own light. Clarified tomato consommé and Grey Goose vodka is mixed with Tabasco spice to create a fiery symphony.
Cocktail lovers, make your way to The Atrium Bar on Level 35 to try the & JULIET-inspired cocktail menu. And here's a heads up - those Friday night dancers will be back when you least expect it!
