Pioneers of Australian dance in photographic exhibition
Ancestors & Anecdotes is a unique exhibition exploring Australian contemporary dance at Lulu & Cafe Gallery in North Melbourne from 21-30 September 2017. The photographic exhibition features images from the Australian Dance Awards and runs in parallel to the 2017 National Dance Forum (NDF2017) 25–26 September 2017 at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Victoria.
Ancestors & Anecdotes will reflect upon 40 years of Australian contemporary dance, paying homage to the invaluable work of Australia's female dance pioneers Carole Johnson, Cheryl Stock AM, Margaret Lasica, Shirley McKechnie AM and Elizabeth Cameron Dalman OAM.
A feature of the exhibition are interviews with each pioneer broadcast on 'Delving into Dance' - so bring your headphones and your smart phone or tablet. Photographic works and memorabilia from companies like Bangarra Dance Theatre, Dancenorth, Phillip Adams Balletlab, Danceworks and Chunky Move will also feature in the exhibition and a few other surprises.
