"Our first computers were not born out of greed or ego, but in the revolutionary spirit of helping common people rise above the most powerful institutions."
Once upon a twentieth century, humanity was captivated by the foresight of science fiction writers and filmmakers. Those dignified, daunting, dreamy glimpses into an imagined future would soon become a reality with the turn of the information age, due in no small part to the contributions of Steve "Woz" Wozniak.
Think Inc. – the team behind the Australian tours of Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sam Harris and Maajid Nawaz, Edward Snowden, and Dr Brian Greene – is proud to announce An Evening with Steve Wozniak at Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne on Saturday 27 August 2016, 6.30pm.
This is an exclusive opportunity to be in the company of someone who can be said to have literally changed the world. Wozniak is the inventor of the personal computer, and – along with Steve Jobs – the co-founder of Apple. His inventions have been as innovative as the path along which he has travelled to reach his destination. No stranger to moonlighting (developing the PC on his nights while working at HP), Wozniak is also a well-renowned philanthropist, a motivational speaker, and, importantly, a strong champion for STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), for "Wherever smart people work, doors are unlocked".
An Evening with Steve Wozniak will entertain, educate, and inspire anyone with ideas: "The world needs inventors – great ones. You can be one. If you love what you do and are willing to do what it really takes, it's within your reach."
The forthcoming Melbourne event will consist of a conversation with an influential Australian as well as an opening act, an opportunity for meet and greet ticket holders to meet Woz and get their books signed.
Doors to the event will open at 5:00pm. Event start time is 6:30pm and the event ends at 8:00pm for general ticket holders and 9:15pm for Meet and Greet ticket holders.
The Meet and Greet will take place after the main event within the same venue. Meet and greet ticket holders will be asked to remain in their seats after the event to be directed to the meet and greet area. There will be merchandise sold at the event, including t-shirts and posters. Before purchasing, please review your ticket choice as all student tickets require a student ID.
