AMRA (Australian Model Railway Association) is the Victorian Branch of a national non-profit Association with over 1,000 members that was founded in Melbourne on 18 May 1951. On the weekend of 3 & 4 August 2024 from 9am to 5pm Sat & 9am to 4pm Sun they'll be exhibiting their model trains at the Town Square Pavilion 08, Melbourne Showgrounds. Entry is via Gate 5, Langs Road, Flemington. There's a flat rate general admission of $15, with all children under 16 years of age going free if accompanied by a paid admission. There's off-street and on-street parking. The Melbourne Showgrounds charge $20 per day for onsite parking. A family-friendly event, come along and see the magic and intricacies of model railways. There are new layouts, displays and demonstrations from local and interstate clubs, Children's U Drive, railway organisations, as well as trade stands, and new and second goods! Do note pets are not allowed, and you may be photographed and your image may be used in promotional material. Not allowed on the premises - alcohol or bare feet. See the event page for more details.

Steamrail Victoria will be operating the heritage 'Red Rattler' Tait Train on shuttles to the Showgrounds Station in conjunction with the AMRA event on Sunday 4 August only. Book your tickets , to sit back in comfort and style aboard the heritage train. Relive the 20th Century commute on one of Melbourne's most scenic lines with an express run between Flinders Street and Showgrounds, with the Taits doing what they did best from 1919 until 1984. Visit the model railway exhibition, or just come for a train ride through Melbourne's inner west.
