One of the biggest sporting battles is set to begin as the signature Rugby League series, State of Origin, bursts onto football Stadiums across the country, and some of the best players take on the toughest matches of the year.



The annual contest which sees the Queensland Maroons taking on the New South Wales Blues, is one of Australia's biggest sporting battles described as Mate versus Mate and State versus State. The Rugby League State of Origin series is seriously competitive and is considered one of the major highlights in the careers of most NRL players and games not to miss for its fans.

The State of Origin started in 1980 when the then President of the Queensland Rugby League, Senator Ron McAuliffe lobbied to allow Queensland-born players to represent their home State rather than the State where they were currently competing. When this idea was endorsed so began the immortal.



This year marks the 44th series in the competition's history and comes on the back of New South Wales winning the series in 2024. During its history, Queensland has won 24 series, New South Wales has won 17, with the remaining two being drawn.

Brisbane
The three-match series kicks off in Brisbane on May 28, 2025, at the Cauldron, that is Suncorp Stadium in Castlemaine Street, Milton.

Perth
Next game two heads across to the East of the country to Perth on June 18, 2025, at Optus Stadium in Perth where the series gains momentum.

Sydney
The series finishes off in Sydney at Accor Stadium Accor Stadium in June where the series Shield will be presented to the winning State.
