Melbourne has so much to offer. I love experiencing new places and events and sharing them with you. I have an interest in gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets so I will let you know if you these can be catered for in my reviews.

The writing is on the wall

Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner for take-away, eat in or functions, Amorosa is a cut above the average Italian bistro.

For starters, the service is exceptional. We have been going there for years and have always been served by friendly, helpful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble.

Last time, there was a mistake in the order. The way a restaurant deals with a problem says a lot about it. Well, it may have been a problem to start with, but it was resolved without having to mention it twice. Although we got a sincere apology, twice.

There are a couple of large tables for large groups or to share, and the place is child friendly, with plenty of room and a children's menu. The staff will even provide the children with crayons and colouring in.

Amorosa has a comprehensive wine list with mostly Australian wines, from the Barossa Valley, Margaret River, Coonawarra and so on. Of course there are beers and sparkling wines, soft drinks and a couple of flavours of milkshake for the kids.

With such a good wine list, and a good range of antipasto, I am sure many visit for a drink and nibble. There is outside seating so you could watch the world go by.

The food is consistently good. The gnocchi is a favourite. Not too heavy, melt in your mouth homemade gnocchi. On the menu there is the House made potato gnocchi with grilled eggplant,
tomato, olive oil, basil and ricotta

Gnocchi with king prawns

On this day there was king prawn and asparagus gnocchi on the specials board.

Pizza is clearly a favourite. Plenty of people cruise in to grab takeaway pizza, as well as eating in. All the usual toppings are here, and then some more unique, such as
The Marche Spinach, ricotta, nutmeg, pancetta, garlic and fior di latte finished with cracked pepper. Calzone and risotto are also options.

I really love the Amalfi salad
(Oranges, fennel, olive, semi dried tomato and roquette) because it is so refreshing. Vegetarian and gluten free items are indicated on the menu and there a good range of options.

Coffee is good, and desserts look tempting.
Amorosa delivers on great food. The relaxed ambience, and the drawings of food and love are enchanting and will have you coming back for more.
