Amnesia pulls no punches as it nears its shocking end

Short Straw is a brand new, independent production company made up of creative duo Hannah Smallman and Clancy Fraser. This August, Short Straw is proudly presenting their debut show Amnesia, a black comedy which plays on themes of gender roles, morality and murder in an age of internet dating.

Playing for a strictly limited season, from Friday 18th to Sunday 27th August 2017 at Longplay in Fitzroy North, Amnesia promises to be a performance to remember!

The play takes comedy to its blackest place yet when Lucy (South African actress Jeni Bezuidenhout) finds herself on a blind date with could-be killer Aaron (Palmer Marchese) who is suffering a bad case of memory loss.

Convinced she's stuck in a room with a serial killer, the neurotic Lucy's desperation to escape is soon replaced with the desire to win acclaim as the woman who manages to outsmart a wanted killer - and get revenge after being rated a 7 out of 10.

For Aaron the stakes are even higher: prove he's innocent (despite not being entirely sure he is) or spend the rest of his life in jail.

The night only grows more complicated as the trapped duo bitterly debate Aaron's possible motives and Lucy's willingness to do whatever it takes to put him behind bars.

Covering everything from bad ex-boyfriends and perjury to head wounds and Hannibal Lecter, Amnesia pulls no punches as it nears its shocking end.

Amnesia marks the first production by British director Hannah Smallman, who previously worked on Back of the Throat, winner of Timeout Magazines Critic's Choice Award. Amnesia is written by Australian writer and producer Clancy Fraser, whose recent works include black comedy Blackout and historical drama The Last Romanov.

Tickets for this exciting new production by Short Straw will go on sale on July 24th. It will run over two consecutive weekends from August 18th to 27th at Longplay, 318 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North. Performances will be held on August 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th and 27th at 6:30pm & 8:30pm.
