Bowling may seem old school, but it's ridiculous fun. There are now some great special offers that are valid at all AMF Bowling Centres in NSW and the ACT. So me and my boyfriend went to the AMF Bowling Centre in Castle Hill recently and played three very fun and intense games (there's a Sunday special where after 8pm, three games cost only $15 per person). We also met up with one of my boyfriend's online Starcraft buddies, which was very entertaining in and of itself.

The three games gave me an intense workout. Not so much because of holding the balls or anything like that (I prefer to use the lighter balls), but because it became my tendency to jump about in a crazy manner after having my turns.

There were two reasons for this. The first was because of disappointment at throwing a really bad ball (the usual reason). The second was because of excitement at throwing a really good one (this happened on fewer occasions of course).

The AMF Bowling Centre at Castle Hill (and I imagine any other AMF Bowling Centre) also has a diner-like bar that serves food. The bar serves things like hot dogs and wedges, and they also have sweets and ice creams and drinks for sale. I bought a large portion of wedges to share around, and I thought they were the perfect finishing touch for this old school sport. Oh, and a major plus on the night: the bowling shoes that the AMF Bowling Centre lent me were just about new. Here's to hoping AMF Bowling's attempts at improvement continue.
