Currently being held at the Art Gallery of NSW is America Painting a Nation until 9 February 2014.

You can view art that has defined America through 200 years of US history and into the lives of the American people.

The exhibition brings together over 90 works many on display for the first time in Australia. Some of the artists include Jackson Pollock, Georgia O'Keefe, Edward Hopper, Mark Rothko and James Whistler.



You can get a rich account of the American experience by encountering the epic stories and chapters which have defined America's history, the moving prose of the land, the ambition of the country's pioneers and challenges which they have confronted.

America Painting a Nation is part of the Sydney International Arts Series which brings the world's outstanding exhibitions to Australia. It's collaboration with Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Terra Foundation for American Art.
